SHA-224 Hash Generator

Generate SHA-224 hashes from text or files. Part of the SHA-2 family, providing 224 bits of security.

What is SHA-224?

SHA-224 (Secure Hash Algorithm 224) is one of the four variant hash functions in the SHA-2 family. It is essentially SHA-256 with a different initial value and the final hash truncated to 224 bits. It was designed to provide a security level between SHA-1 and SHA-256, specifically matching the 112-bit security level of Triple DES.

Use Case

SHA-224 is often used in environments where a specific security level is required without the extra overhead of 256-bit hashes. While it is secure, SHA-256 is much more common and widely supported across hardware and libraries.
